When we looked at our new house, this big dirt mound had a beautiful flag pole. I was so excited to be able to fly our colors for each holiday and special occasion. Sadly, this dream was not realized. The sellers decided to take the pole with them, leaving this giant circle of dirt sitting in the front yard.
As we focused on moving in, the dirt mound slowly became covered with weeds. Well, no longer!
We set to work:
We dug a hole,
filled it with cement and a sweet street lamp,
added some great bushes and color,
and...VOILA! Finished product:

Our wonderful neighbors helped hardwire the lantern, which is set on a timer. I love it. It feels so warm and inviting. I can't wait for the plants to get bigger. They're each supposed to grow anywhere from 2 to 5 feet. I think it will look great!

It looks great! I hope you are loving your new home.
Even though we knew that we couldn't live in my mom's house permanently, it didn't make it any easier to leave such wonderful neighbors behind. We REALLY miss the Naegles & the Hills (your next door neighbors who are also the original homeowners), but I'm sure you & Brian both appreciate them as much as we did. I love the lantern idea. I'll bet it looks so pretty, especially at night!
Bummer they took the pole, but you guys did a great job of filling the dirt.
